POSSIBLE SCAM ALERT: The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Does NOT Offer Debt Consolidation Services

According to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's blog, there is a new potential scam out in the wild -- people contacting consumers who pose as employees of the CFPB. These scammers claim that the CFPB is offering debt consolidation services and attempt to obtain credit card information.

The CFPB DOES NOT offer debt consolidation services. It simply doesn't. Under no circumstances should you give your credit card information to anyone claiming to work for the CFPB. The CFPB will NOT call you and ask for credit card information.

If you receive one of these calls, contact the CFPB at (855) 411-CFPB.
