Bankruptcy Filing Fees To Increase on June 1, 2014

|

During its March 2014 session, the Judicial Conference decided to raise the bankruptcy filing fees effective on June 1, 2014.

The fee to file an adversary proceeding has been increased to match the cost of filing an action in federal district courts. It will now cost $350 to file an adversary proceeding. It's worth noting that debtors do not pay this fee to file an adversary proceeding.

The cost of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing will increase from $306 to $350.

The cost of a Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing will increase from $281 to $310.

The cost of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing will increase to $1,717.

Keep in mind that these filing fees are in addition to any fees charged by your attorney. If you are considering filing a bankruptcy, it may be wise to file before June 1.
